Circus of Fools – the crazy Alternative Metal group from the picturesque little town of Tübingen – have taken the Covid-19-catastrophe to their advantage and present the most cosmopolitan work of their career. During a crowd funding campaign (www.startnext.com/das-neue-circus-fools-album) for their next full-length album the seven clowns will release „Affair of the Poisons - The Corona Sessions“. Those four songs tell a coherent story about the Affair of the Poisons, a dark and conspiracy theory driven time during the reign of Louis XVI. They function as a metaphor for the status of our own modern society in those uncertain times.

 

The songs where recorded in „social distancing home recording“ in the living and bed rooms of the band members, from Zurich to Tubingen to Hamburg. They are also a result of a very international form of work liaison, showing how much is possible with our globaly connected world and the internet without meeting face to face: Mixed by the dutch producer Thijs den Ouden, mastered by long time band friend and ex-Circus of Fools producer Lasse Schlör and the artworks where designed by genius French tattoo artist newcomer Matthieu Decock (Instagram.com/mattdmk) - fitting for a French set story.

 

Four songs that could not be more different, showing a cross-section through what this band is all about. And giving a good reason why you should co-fund the work of those eerie clowns: If they are able to create something like this with minimal financial support and the simplest home recording equipment, think about what they could accomplish in a professional studio setting!

Circus of Fools – die verrückten Alternative Metaler aus dem beschaulichen Universitätsstädtchen Tübingen – haben aus der Covid-19-Not eine Tugend gemacht und das kosmopolitischte Werk ihrer bisherigen Karriere abgeliefert. Im Zuge eines Crowdfundings (www.startnext.com/das-neue-circus-fools-album) für das nächste full-length Album präsentieren die sieben Clowns nun „Affair of the Poisons - The Corona Sessions“, vier Songs die eine durchgehende Geschichte erzählen. Angelehnt an die Giftaffäre während der Regentschaft Ludwigs des XIV., einer dunklen Zeit voller Verschwörungstheorien, Lügen und Unsicherheiten, sind diese Tracks eine Metapher für die aktuelle Gesellschaftslage. 

 

Die vier Songs entstanden komplett im „Social-Distancing-Homerecording“ in den Wohn- und Schlafzimmern der Bandmitglieder –von Zürich über Tübingen bis Hamburg– und sind außerdem eine internationale Zusammenarbeit, die hervorragend die Möglichkeiten des Internets in Krisensituationen präsentiert: Gemischt wurden die Songs vom Niederländer Thijs den Ouden, gemastert wurde das Ganze durch den langjährigen Freund und ehemaligen Produzenten der Band Lasse Schlör und das Artwork wurde, passend zum französischen Setting der Geschichte, gestaltet durch den genialen französischen Tattoo-Artist-Newcomer Matthieu Decock (Instagram.com/mattdmk). 

 

Vier Songs die unterschiedlicher nicht sein könnten und einen guten Querschnitt durch das Schaffen der Band bieten… und außerdem einen guten Eindruck davon geben, warum man diese Band im Crowdfunding unterstützen sollte! Wenn sie dies erreichen mit minimalen finanziellen Mitteln und einfachsten Homerecording-Umständen, was könnten sie dann erschaffen in einem professionellen Studio-Umfeld?
